What is Coaching?

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” Key words in this definition are partnering, thought-provoking, and maximize potential.

We believe that the employee experience is one to be coached and developed through the individual experience bringing forth their values and authentic style. We are passionate about seeing people achieve their work dreams from a deep place of integrity with employees utilizing their greatest talents and the company benefiting from top performance.

Specifically, career coaching helps individuals navigate their professional journeys by providing guidance, motivation, and strategies to achieve career goals. This process involves exploring strengths, interests, and values to make informed career decisions. By enhancing self-awareness and setting clear objectives, career coaching empowers individuals to advance in their careers and attain job satisfaction.

How to get the most out of your sessions

Coaching is most successful when the employee is involved in the process. The employee identifies coaching areas.

The coach supports and guides an employee to improve their skills, performance, and their career plans. It involves regular interactions, feedback, and goal setting to address specific professional challenges and opportunities.

When working with a coach

  • Talk about authentic ways to get your voice heard early.
  • Avoid using your coach for Q&A and quick access to information.
  • Think about the questions your coach asks. It will help you reflect and learn.
  • Share the feedback you get and use your coach to help create a plan to improve.
  • Be prepared, prioritize your coaching time. Come to each of your calls with a question or topic.
  • Coaching is a confidential safe place to talk about how you are doing, your manager, experience, what’s working & what’s not.
  • It’s a partnership.
  • Listen. Things like managing your manager, asking for feedback and building a network do matter.
